Love the colour on those eggs Deej!!
I have a coronation in my flock too Choocklady. She is older than in the photo. A great layer. Your spring grass looks amazing. I am from Tassie. Moved to Melbourne many years ago, but still love the island.
Oh no appps! That is not good. Good luck with fixing it!!

She is lovely.

Why hello chicken peeps. Been a while since I've been on here. Much has happened. I have been further developing my cuckoobaraucanas and i have some really nice chicks growing out right now. Am hatching some birchens out of some really nice black firls ive recently aquired very soon. Ive also just got my greesy chicken math hands on some really nice dark laying marans. I finally have some girls to pair up with my pretty rooster. The fold laced wyandottes are doing well and have just started to lay. One of them is laying a gorgeous pink egg with white speckles. But i have sold all bar 4 of my adult araucanas to make room for growing out babies so im down to 4 aras 3 wyandottes and 4 marans for breeders this season. A much more managable number i think. How is everyone elses birdies going?

Welcome back, nice egg basket.

Feeding cockatoos is a problem when you stop. They have been known to eat the houses of people who move away.

It used to be illegal to feed wild birds. You could find information on the Qld government environment website. If your interested.
I hadn't heard that about wild birds but some people have complained when we used to feed the betongs (nocturnal wallabies) but National Parks have told us to feed them apples, carrots, corn and we have found they love the wild bird seed we have put out hoping it would grow for the birds!!! Haven't put food out in years but they still come around and presumably are responsible for half eaten pumpkins and other vegies etc. We don't need to feed the wild birds as we have so many native trees - grevilleas are the best with bottlebrush a close second. We have planted a lot around the house area and have just come inside after enjoying a coffee on the verandah, in the beautiful sunshine as we watched about five different types of honeyeaters (including redcaps and blue cheeks with some other unidentified ones) and lorikeets of course. They are delightful to watch as they hang upside down working on the flowers. This is a wonderful winter we are having up on the Tablelands this year.

Installed my hensafe automatic door on Sunday. Worked great till this morning when it didn't open and won't open even using the manual instead of automatic settings.

Just lucky it died closed not open! Will be interesting what customer service says. So much for peace of mind when we go away overnight in a few weeks.

That is annoying! Let me know what they say to you.

The Coro babies have been mingling with the big girls. LG ( little George ) is not filling his dad's shoes.

will have to select one of the cockerels out of this group.

Great photographs Fancy .......

I don't like the idea that you have to choose one of the cockerels only ( that is my understanding of your post ). Could the other cockerel not be put in with some other hens, to see what ( if anything ?? ) happens. I don't think I could do it myself, especially as they most likely are both magnificent looking birds. ( don't know which is which from the photos' ).

But I do see the beautiful white ( light sussex ? ) rooster there. He is very handsome.

Maybe LG needs to mature a little more - d'ya think ? ... Not for me to interfere - I just hate the idea of having to choose between male chookies.

Cheers ..... and good luck.

My kids are loving school holidays, and terroris.... I mean "helping" me with the chickens. There is a daily fight over who's turn it is to collect the one egg a day we have been getting from the bantam araucana

Anni if you use weather zone. Type in gatton qld. While we are 35km from there it is the closest you can get to our actual temps. In winter our overnight temps are usually 2c on average cooler.

I did that .... showed lowest 4°C tonight > 20° C tomorrow. So that's not so bad I guess. At least 20° is reasonable and warmish.

Two days in Victoria, we have had umpteen different weather forecasts for the State and Central, plus outer east areas.
It is honesly a case of

when watching different TV stations' weather forecasts . So we really do not know what to expect. Even Bureau of Meteorology got it wrong ???

Stay warm -

Cheers .......
