Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thanks Satay. Another day of gale force winds here. The birds are having another day locked in their pen, it's too wild for them to be out. We are expecting the front to keep coming through with rain and possibly snow tonight. It's so bad the peacock even slept on his roost is the carport last night. You know it's bad when a peacock sleeps under cover!!

Oh no snow you can have that think my chickens ould cope better with snow than i would. Hope you all remain ok.

I have just found the weirdest thing with BB biddas rooster. He has been outside the door this morning so i went out to check him and he seems to have lost his spurs on both feet. I found them and they appear to have just fallen off. All intact . Both sites where they have come off are bleeding so i have cleaned him up and used antibiotic ointment and wrapped them. Wonder what would have caused this to happen. They were there this morning when i let him out and he hasn't moved from outside the front door since so nothing has attacked him.

Oh that is strange , I've had one pull one off when sparing with another roo through the fence , but never both.
I dab the spur in cayenne pepper, it clots the blood in even deep wounds.

Only just got the power back in my house, 24 hours without power. Incubators and chicks under lights had to be driven to a friends place. Coops blown over, fences completely smashed, fences stolen, 50+ year old gums uprooted. So it been pretty wild down south. Hopefully a break in the wild allow some tidying/fixing up. Hope everyone else is alright, vic and nsw lock down everything its heading your way.

Good luck with the heavy weather. Thinking of you with snow while we get around in t-shirts and shorts and soaking up the sun. Sorry, don't mean to rub it in - in the summer we will be sweltering while you will be quite comfortable! Take care of your babies.

I am so sorry it's so difficult for you right now. Hope your chicks under lights are okay and that you get the coops and fences fixed quickly. Sounds like one of our cyclones. Chin up and know that we are all thinking of you.

What a nightmare redguinea. I hope it settles a bit before hitting us. We have had constant winds of 30/40 K an hour for two days now. Unusually the power has stayed on, and no trees down...yet. The chickens are all ok, but the peacock just flew into his tall gum to roost tonight. Fingers crossed the winds won't increase in speed much with the front.
