It might be worth switching to a different antibiotic, the sulfadimidine based drugs aren't always that effective against bacterial viruses.

Aww, that's so cute! (But annoying for poor Agnes)So, Agnes (my silkie) and Esme (my pekin) both had to lay eggs this afternoon at around the same time. Agnes was first, goes into the nest box and settles herself on the left side. Esme later goes in only to squawk up a fuss because she also wanted that same side of the nest box, never mind the fact there was more than enough room on the right hand side for her to sit down and lay her egg. Esme's solution? Sit on the left side anyway, pushing little Agnes into the corner as much as she stubbornly can.Even though we're building HUGE new boxes for them, I'll bet anything they continue to pull shenanigans like this. Here's a pic of the pair in question. Poor Aggie.

Thanks. Will do. Do you know a name of one I could give to my vet please? Cheers.
Just an update on my pekins. They are all doing well. Ralph is still sneezing occasionally; Freckles now doesn't have any symptoms; Chickadee has come good but his eyes still look a little sore; Billy became very ill and had to go back to the vet for an injection and I have given him oral antibiotics daily for the past week and he is now eating like a horse. But Ralph pecked him on the eye which has now gone milky so I assume poor little darling is blind. The little girl, Cream, who I thought sneezed while in the main pen hasn't sneezed since but is still in hospital. Ralph is in a single cage; Chickadee and the girl are in a 2-storey coop - after he raped poor Billy; Billy and Freckles share the larger 2-storey coop. They are still well away from the main pens and will remain there until there are no more symptoms. I stopped dosing the water for the rest of the flock after five days and they are all well and happy but we can't eat any of their eggs for another 3 weeks. Naturally, they went back on the lay just after I started giving them antibiotics and I am throwing out a dozen eggs every day or so! I have to buy some tomorrow. Thanks HENRIETTASMUM and FANCYCHOOKLADY. I had to go and get a broad spectrum antibiotic today for my Barnvelder. Will treat the whole flock for good measure. Annoying though. The withholding period for the eggs was over this weekend due to worming and cocci. Another fortnight it seems. Will treat the peacock too for good measure. Cheers.
I now have a question - a while ago I bought three lavender Araucanas. One was eaten by a 3 metre scrub python but I was still left with a pair. Today I was researching them as I have put some eggs in the incubator and, according to American sites, they are not actually Araucanas as they have tails. They say they are Easter Eggers. I don't really mind as they are gorgeous birds and I love the coloured eggs, but I'd like to know. Someone on one of the sites I looked at, commented that in some countries they are called Araucanas. What is everyone's opinion on this?

Henriettasmum, here's my Mabel, a lavender Araucana. She likes to sit and cuddle with me, the bottom pic is just so you can see the body shape. I'm guessing your pair look like her? Mabel's five months now, and finally starting to get her adult shape and plumage, though she's had a wing clipped, she's a little too adventurous. Comb is still flat, and eyes are a beautiful brown, though they're meant to change colour I believe as she matures. Barely a day goes by when she doesn't have something stuck in that beard of hers.
