Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Great news. Well done Esme. I've been adding calcivet to my little hen with prolapse vents water.

http://vetafarm.com.au/product/calcivet/

But don't give dairy or calcium high products while administering the oxymav as the calcium effects the absorption of the antibiotic.

Oh yes, thanks for reminding me. I don't give them dairy products anyway, but still it's good to be mindful of such things. And thanks for the link, I need to restock some of my vetafarm products, and it's good to see what else they make. I like their probiotics and electrolytes.

Thanks for the well wishes Satay and Sunflowerthebun

Glad to hear Esme is laying properly now. I have been with out eggs for 2 weeks now, probably because their all upset about the constant changes. I have just the main layers left to bring out to the new coop, then I can start de-construction of the old one, hopefully yielding enough material to fox proof thier run.

Looks like i have my duck babies laying. The little egg is from my silkie. I think I have one chicken pinching duck eggs as I have now found 2 duck eggs in a chicken size nesting box.

Can you post pics? My build starts tomorrow. I'll get some pics to put up.

That Silkie egg is a pretty good size?! I was thinking of getting one as a broody. Never thought of the eggs.
to give you an idea those duck eggs are about chicken egg size cause they only just started. The silkie egg are classified as a small egg but I have to say they are really good for egg benedict though. Not sure about broody but they are really good egg snatchers

This is where they are moving into. The coop section is an old lambing hut. I won't be getting out to the old one for a few days. There are pics of it on my thread. There is a link to it on my signature block if your not in mobile device mode. I will see if there is enough light to get an inside shot before I head out in the morning.

hi fancy. Good to know. I knew they wont be tiny but wasnt sure of actual size after the pullet eggs.i had also been told they wereclassified as small size but didnt bother me at all

I wonder if anyone could help me out. My mother in law just got some more chickens, going by what she discribes it sounds like a sussex, she wants to know if their female or roos, they are are going through their first proper molt since feathering out. I have told her she may have to wait til she can see the roo signs of crowing or the roo feathers. I am not familiar with the breed so whats the earliest you can tell uf they are sussex? And how? She also has 2 more but have no clue what breed they are or if they are mixed.

Thanks guys
