Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Progress pics of the coop from today .. shade cloth goes under the Suntuf Solarsmart Polycarbonate Roofing which has 99.9% UV Protection, absorbs heat from the sun and is hail resistant and cyclone rated and not being fitted until after TC Debbie has departed lol

Sure hope that cyclone Debbie hangs a large left, right or about face, and goes away. And sincerely hope that your hubby's wonderful work is not impacted.

As long as he and your lovely Border Collie ( ?? ) dog are safe and sheltered - is all that matters.

BOM is half and half about it becoming a full on cyclone - from what I have read.

Not knowing precisely where your hubby ( new home ) is, I can make no further comment - except - - -

..... to wish hubby and dog well .... and you well - while you await news.

Cheers ~

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to all who are new to this wonderful thread.
welcome-byc.gif

I hope the weather has been kind to everyone, and the damage from storms is minimal.
Good luck to everyone hatching eggs at the moment, my fingers are crossed for lots of girls.
Had the flu this week so I got behind in reading all your comments. I also have applied for a few jobs, at the moment I am working as a relief and contract EA, I've been doing that for 9 years. Apparently my answers on the selection criteria questions have not had enough detail. So I've tried to fix that and I have 3 interviews this weeks. 2 more jobs to apply for so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I know its not chicken related, but its been on my mind a lot this week, so I thought I'd share.

I haven't heard any news reports today so I hope the QLD cyclone has gone and everyone is have a great weekend.

Hey Annie thank you!

Not sure if the ?? was that you had forgotten the border collie’s name or if it was a ?? that she was a border collie. Anyways, yes, Jessie the Border Collie, FIL and hubby look like they may have dodged the bullet which is TC Debbie if the predicted track map is anything to go by .. the arrow is their location.

However, anyone in her path, now including a Cousin of mine, are definitely in my thoughts and fingers crossed that there is not too much damage.

LuckysMum sorry to hear that you have been unwell and hope that you are feeling better now. I have my fingers crossed for you also .. good luck at the interviews!

Today was Nowra Poultry club sale day. I wasn't going to get anything but I saw this cuty. She is a ringneck pheasant, but she looks alittle lighter than the photos of pheasant hens I see on the Internet. She is 3 months old. Should I cut her wings so she doesn't break her neck trying to fly through the roof? I heard somewhere there are colour mutations. Thoughts?

PS. TO ALL DOG OWNERS. Please DO NOT bring your dogs through a poultry pavilion! ! I left her for 30 seconds to get a club photo and a dog owner sat their dog right next to my pheasant. She freaked out bashing her head on the cage and cut her beak! They only moved their dog while a club member yelled at them to get the dog outside. It could have been alot worse, but PLEASE don't bring dogs anywhere near the poultry pavilion! My pheasant wasn't the only bird to freak out and cut their face! I spotted ATLEAST 5 dogs there today. Just DON'T!!

What sort of idiots take dogs to poultry sales? That's just silly.
My local sale is week after Easter.
We have never has some one try and bring a dog.

Telia, I hope hubby is OK. Cyclones are one of those things you're going to have to get used to living in FNQLD.

In other news out of 1 dozen Black Leghorn eggs and 2 dozen mixed bantam eggs I've hatched only 6 chicks, all bantams. :th :jumpy I'm not sure whether to call it a 16% hatch (6/36 total eggs) or a 25% hatch (6/24 bantam eggs). Either way it's not exactly a resounding success. I guess that's why you don't count your chickens before they hatch! I hope I do a little better with the 15 Barred Plymouth Rock eggs in the other incubator at the moment.

My other failure has been my homemade automatic door. It closes the door beautifully at 8pm but the plastic gears in the automatic pet bowl slip when trying to lift the door at 7am. Even the addition of a counter balance to lighten the load hasn't helped. :( If I get a day at home tomorrow I might try to eliminate some friction from the system and see if that helps. :fl

Howdy folks

Your new addition is gorgeous Jess! I partook in some serious eye rolling when I read about the dog at the Poultry sale .. some people should not be allowed outdoors unsupervised

Fizzy Beatrice is just too cute!

Sorry to hear about your not so good hatch rate Sparky but I have my fingers crossed for your Rock eggs

Good luck with the door also!

I could not agree more . I'm sure some people aren't capable of thinking.

I hope your husband and FIL are not in any danger from the cyclone. I saw on the weather this morning its doesn't look good.
I'm not sure exactly where you husband is, but I hope he is safe.

I hope everyone is safe and it doesn't do too much damage.

Well I've had one interview it seemed to go well. Next one in an hour.

Thank you LuckysMum and good luck with the next interview; I am pleased the first one went well.

Hubby is north of Townsville:

I just got an e.mail from him and they are not yet feeling any effects. I saw some footage from Mackay and it was getting blowy there but they are further east.
