Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Poor little thing, she must have been full to the top with poop! Lucky you got her, probably wouldnt have been much longer and she would have been dead. She just needed a good wash!

YAY for the egg! now all that poop is out the way she will probably do more

Wow...thats an experience and a half rarebreed... Luck was on your side that day- you did get her cheaper after all that didnt you??

Sounds like a bit of TLC was all she needed- I hope she rewards your efforts with many more eggs...and some beautiful babies too.

What colour is your Malay? Yes, ours can get pretty violent if you try to move them, I dread to think what they would be like with chickens! Haven't found out yet as ours are incubated. The 2 that have gone broody on eggs actually broke their eggs, they are so big and clumsy!

She is the same colour as the one in your bin picture. She has hatched quite a few babies for me.(last lot she hatched was rir's) She even hatched some turkeys a couple of years ago lol. Only thing I find with her is she won't be moved so if i try to move her from one spot and put her on eggs she will up and leave lol.

What a nice story Rare. She just needed some one to take the time with her and she is repaying you already

I think that has been the problem with ours! We are a bit limited for pens, and they have gone broody in their pens, and refused to be moved, trouble is the rooster is still in there and when he plays "Chasies" the eggs get damaged!

Rare Breed, that is such a nice story,I hope that she continues to reward you with many, many eggs for many years to come!

Must be a breed trait then hey wooklet. Glad it is not just my carzy amazon that does it lol. Thats why she was given to me orginally the owners said she was to violent for them lol. My teenage son handles her well so it's all good.

Cheep, cheep! A whole $2!

Last auction I was interested in some but they were making $60 a bird and I couldn't afford a trio at that price.

Now I have this nice hen I'll have to get a roo for her but roos are easy enough to come by. I am very tempted to put my Dorking roo over her to get a few fertile eggs for the NYD hatch but she's still in quarantine. She looks great though now, perfectly healthy. Hmmm...

Hey, any of you joining in the NYD hatch? I didn't have a 'bator last year or a broody, now I have both I'm not missing the chance.

Na, I just keep on hatching may fluke some for that time of year.

I had better collect up some eggs then.. I only have a few days left since it will be duck eggs for me. Nothing I would like to do better than spend New years watching new peepers enter the world.

RareBreedFancier wow... you couldnt have aked for better. even if she cost you a few dollars for worming / pesasite treatment etc- you still got an absolute bargain. i bet if others there knew how well she was doing they would be kicking themselves now.
