Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Adorable ducklings! I think I'm in love. :love

I've had some little chicklets hatching here. The crazy broodes in the shared nest have been hatching me one every day or so but no one wants to look after the babies, just sit on the eggs so I've been bringing them in and popping them in the brooder. Going to kick the older chicklets out hopefully tomorrow. =)

They are all holding out to see who can last longest on the nest so someone else has to raise the babies.

I have molting ducks...and plenty of them...my back lawn is covered in white. So glad that this hot spell wasnt as bad as the last here in Victoria. Im looking forward to an extra long weekend...I have friday off work and am so looking forward to it. What are peoples plans for Australia Day??

Hi Ducky,

Here in Brisbane it has been pelting down rain for several days now without letting up. We are in flood weather again, and the prediction is grim. More torrential rain to continue at least to the end of the week. It is pelting down now as I write. A lot of the roads are flooded, my back yard is totally waterlogged. It's hard to get to some places even work. So looks like it will be a rather wet Australia Day Holiday - looks like there will be no shrimps on our Barby - it's off for us.

Funny, even though we have sooooo much rain, it is still extremely humid with the fan going full blast.

I hope all you other Aussies are in better shape weather wise and I hope you all have a wonderful Australia Day on Thursday.

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY TO ALL THE AUSSIES OUT THERE

It's coming down out here too. Not as much as Brissy has had but i wreckon by the end of today they will be releasing water from Wivenhoe again. It's terrible to see the panick on people all over the net because it is raining. The floods from last year have sure effected people in a bad way still.

Sorry to hear there is flooding up there again. :hugs

Here the farmers (and us) are irrigating because it's too dry and we need rain. It's also supposed to get to 37 today, hoping it doesn't make it. I've just been out refilling waters with cool water as the chooks won't drink the hot water and I don't blame them! The cats were looking hopeful in the lounge so I have brought in a bowl of cold tank water in for them which they appreciate, they don't want to walk to the other end of the house for a drink. You should see my floor, it's littered with sleeping cats, we only cool the lounge and every critter in the house is in here asleep. Amazingly the dog is on his own bed and there are no cats on it, that doesn't often happen!

Aussie Lady I hope the weather breaks for you soon, it must be very worrying. Places here in Victoria also still show signs of the floods from last January. I have a weekender block that copped a fair pelting for days and small dams in the state reserve next door burst washing away the road into my place. I have nearly finished rebuilding it to the point it can be driven on- so the thought of floods here again is not something that dos not please me. I am heading up there for the day tomorrow - taking out the gold detector for the day.
Im not feeling too guilty about the water use here right now- keeping the birds cool comes first here. I might start bringing home some water from the block since the tank is full up there..

What ever you all end up doing...hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

Happy Australia Day to all us Aussie s :weee we ended up with about 80mm of rain so that was good for us as it has been so dry. Brissy and surrounds sure copped a drenching, My hubby works on the south side of brisbane and they got heaps. I think 170mm in 24 hours. As i guessed they started to release water from Wivenhoe yesterday. Only one of the flood gates open so no impact for Brissy from this release. The small towns around the wall again will go under but that seems to be the normal out here and does not even mention a rating on the news. They get cut off for over a week normally when they release water. I think in the floods it was close to 4 weeks before they could get out .

The humidity has been horrible hasn't it? We were up over 95% some days. It just makes everything sticky and yucky.
