Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Greetings fellow Aussies!! Anyone from North West New South Wales?

:welcome I missed your post yesterday. You have a nice selection of ducks, hope to see pics of all your birds some time soon. ;) I hope your ducks don't stray too far and you can get the grass cut soon.

I'll still take more rain if any of you want to send some more down, things are nice at the moment but more wouldn't hurt.

I'm getting sick of this rain! we can't mow, and the grass is getting so long that we are losing our ducks!

Get some geese to go with them!!!!! They will eat the grass down.

I am expecting my lawn to shoot up in the next few days- sunny and humid down here with showers throughout the day- great weather for the grass and since my yard is looking so patchy right now I sprinkled some seed out last week. I couldnt have picked better weather for it!!

I actually grew up in Tamworth and often visited my Grandparents who lived in Narrabri. I guess its changed alot since I was last there.

I've got 1 goose, but there's way too much area for her to manage herself!

It seems to be very wet here lately, In the past few years actually. It used to be very very dry, not anymore!!

lol...Just realised that is a goose in your avatar... silly me.

Nice to hear that those who want rain... are getting some! Even if it is just a bit.

We had a nice day here. A bit of rain, still quite warm... so hopefully a bit of green may return to may front yard! We have the sheep and a few calves running loose in the house yard at the moment.... hopefully they will go down the driveway and eat some of the grass that is down there! They seem to want to stick to the house lawn though.... and are avoiding the brown stalky grasses that I want them to eat!

Welcome Duckadia! I'd love to see some pictures of your muscovies. I have one who is a few months old and as she is growing, she changes every day (well I think it is a she!).

I hope I hatch some of these duck eggs in my incubator at the moment. I know that they are duck eggs... but other that that it is a mystery!

Well, I took the duck eggs away from my duck (they wouldnt be fertile)
and gave her 6 Araucana eggs instead.
I have used chooks to hatch duck eggs before, but never a duck to hatch chickens.
It should be an interesting experiment.

It just means that momma duck cant have swimming water while she is raising the chicks. The chickens will try to follow her into water- so just make sure that you have good chicken waterers - mum might need a few minutes day care every few days - take the chicks for a little while while she can have a swim in safety- but middle of the day would be best so the chicks wont get cold if her feathers are a bit damp.

I got a letter today from the APS chairman saying: "Unfortunately we have experienced a delay due to our desire to meet illustration quality, and it is not expected to have the books available for delivery until late march at the earliest."

These guys seriously need someone to go in there and organise them. Hasn't this book been put off numerous times over the course of a few years? I don't believe it takes that long to print a book.
