Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

It's pretty much a documentary about birds. It's pretty interesting. There was a great episode on last night, with a flock of millions of budgies in the outback; they looked like a swarm of small green insects from a distance. :p

As for feathers, I'd love to help, but we have trouble finding feathers that aren't torn or dirty.

Hi Rachel and
welcome-byc.gif
and yes,I live in that funny little island and it is Tasmania-Ducky did it to rile me methinks! But one good thing about the funny little island is we don't have foxes here.although Quolls and Tassie devils do their fair share of predation, but I don't think that they are as bold as foxes.
Ashburnham , those Aracunas are beautiful, I've always had a yen to have some lavendar Aracuanas, maybe I could fill up the empty pen with them! JOKE dear hubby, just a joke! Actually,TinaK,I hate having empty pens, because it means that I will have to find something to put in them!

Glad to hear your ducks are on the mend Satay,it was so lucky that you had the black girl seperated, lots of pics when the ducklings hatch please. I am sure that Ducky will be able to help you with your Drakes problem.
Fierlan-you are good vowing to keep your hands in your pockets at an auction-let us know if you succeeded !

The eagle landing was pretty full on too. :p
One of the heron scenes, where the pair started jumping up and down together, that was cute.

A bit like how I wonder with all wildlife docs, I don't even know how they would manage to find where some of it was taking place!

Yeah, I knew the island was Tasmania. I've only been to KI once and I've never been to Tasmania, but a couple of my friends are from there or have lived there... my mother's been and says it's beautiful... I just like the idea that there's a ski resort there!

I might be able to help with the feathers a bit. It depends what sort you want, I guess. I could probably send you some frizzly feathers, maybe some plain white or brown ones, and a whole lot of down (my chicks are growing feathers. There's down everywhere).

Well, I don't watch much TV, but my favourite wildlife documentary which I watch intermittently is Meerkat Manor. It's pretty cute. Apart from that, I'm not so into documentaries.

I did a bit of research, Ducky. A little bit. Sort of. Well, I know all sorts of random theory facts about Frizzles at any rate. About the Araucanas, I don't really mind whether they're proper Araucanas or just Easter Eggers, because I want the blue eggs and they'll probably end up crossed with one of my other breeds at some point anyway (my mother and sister are plotting to put one of the Frizzle roosters in with them because they want a blue-egg-laying Frizzle). And I guess I already knew the basics like caring for them, feeding them, making a coop et cetera. I think I know more about looking after chooks that my father does by now anyway...

But I intend to go to the Show this year for the first time in a while (praying I'll have blue eggs by then to enter!) so I might see if I can find some of those old timers to talk to...

I really must go now and do schoolwork. The good thing about correspondence (okay, so I'm not SOTA. That's just for primary school...) is that I can procrastinate really well on the internet! The bad thing is I still have teachers to grouch at me for not completing my schoolwork.

from Rachel.

I went to the Show last year, it was quite fun. Wandered around the chicken cages and had a look at all these interesting breeds I hadn't even heard of before. I did take a lot of photos, but I haven't the foggiest how to get them onto the computer. One of the men tending to the chooks let me hold one, as he was relocating her, I think.

I love documentaries. I'm a bit of a geek for things like Mighty Structures.

Quote: But you know I mean it in the nicest way... Victoria, The state above it, the sunny one- the state with the rock, the remote state, the state to the South, the place where the pollies meet and that funny little island just wouldnt fit in the thread tittle.
