all i want are some lovely exotic hens and i cant even get that. Why are they all so expensive?

Keep Looking ! I like gumtree - thats where i found my lorp x wyandottes ! But if you can hatch them $50 a dozen then sell some at $50 each at 4mths thats a nice profit (if you free range)

i shall, i have been looking really hard and i am on gumtree, i have some possible lorps lined up a silkie and a RIR, but no fancy hens

Hi Guys, how are you all? Been reading but not posting. My dad (blees him) is currently adding a 2m x 6m extension to my existing 4m x 6m coop. I know I have at least 5 teenage roos so need seperation room. They are pretty much pets & Roos are the BEST pets. It will mean I have 6 roos & 10 hens but my Cochin boy is 12 years old so as much as I want him to live forever, realise it will probably not be too long. He shows NO signs of age & I know for sure he is 12 as picked him out at 1 wk old.
Anyway, I forgot why I started- baby quail water dish! I find a plastic lid covered with marbles tightly packed so water is just over marbles is really safe.Hope of some help. I have never seen a newly hatched quail so PLEASE post pics.

Thanks that's what i though i would do I have a very small waterer and i was thinking i will fill that with marbles. I will for sure post some pictures of the quail when they hatch. They are being posted out this week and hopefully will go into the bator on Friday. Wow 12 year old rooster that is cool. The oldest one I have at the moment is a 7 1/2 year old bantie cochin hen, my oldest rooster is Booster a black maran I know for sure he is 6 but could be a lot older as he was fully grown when I got him. Actually i forgot about my one and only malay game hen I have had her 5 years and the neighbour that gave her to me had her 3 years and said she was fully grown when a friend gave her to her so who knows how old Amazon is .

Are you after eggs or hens? I know someone that has them. 2 people in fact but i think they only sell eggs. Can't remember where you are so if you post your state even i can check for you.

i'm after hens at any age really except the old timers, and i live in NSW in the Coffs Harbour area.
