The new additions born this weekend. Aussie and Brahma babies :)

Hi guys, I'm based in Sydney and new to the whole Chook game. Just halfway through building our first coop which is taking longer than I'd planned due to all the info I keep gathering from this wonderful site. Just when I think I've found the answer to my problem another idea or post creeps in and takes me off on another journey of discovery

. I've done a bit of research on-line for Chook supplies and was wondering where the locals get their feed, DE, Sweet PDZmeds and other Chook nic-nacs from. I don't mind ordering from online stores but would like to be able to get things locally if possible.

Im South Sydney and I use www.barterandsons.com.au/ They sell chicks too though I got my Isa browns from Helensburgh. They deliver and are very friendly. Prompt at fixing any delivery errors too. (only happened once) - AND

Prob just a one off i would say. I get one every once and a while and mine have all you have listed. I would be more concerned if you keep getting them. My quail eggs turned up today and 7 were broken bugger. Luckily i got quite a few so hopefully i will stil get some to hatch. Have 7 babies out of the eggs so far in the bator. Looks like 3 brahma and 4 Ausiie.

cluckcluckluke - Thanks I have a few very small eggs from my young ones but this was an Isa egg so from what I've read I think it may be from the Old Mumma.

I think she is going to meet her maker soon I'm afraid. She is 10yr old and other than that softie hasn't laid in 6mths.

COOPS -

I have a brought one from e-bay and used star pickets and chick wire around them to keep them enclosed. If you free range them they only need about 1m sq each for sleeping space and 2-3m sq each for pen enclosure till they can free range.

I use to let my blacks out in the afternoon after I heard the older flock to their coop. Now that they *cough* get along and are in the same pen they free range all day.

Lol I just let my sussex out to be with the rest of the flock as they are not laying at the moment and all hell broke loose for a few hours but they seem to have settled now.
