Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hey luke. Congrats on the new eggs. If you only have one broody then shove the 12 under her. Better not to let them go to waste. 12 can be alot for one hen but better that than chuck them out. ( you wanna run up to qld and borrow one of my now 8 broodies in the large fowl and gosh knows how many in bantams

)You can always take some eggs and give them to another broody later on if you have one go broody. Well i have finally found a lady that had dark wellsummer eggs so I am making the 2 hour drive on sunday to pick them up.I now think the other eggs sent by the other lady were welly cross brown leg horn. From those eggs. 2 were broken on arrival and out of the other 10, 9 are showing signs of development

ok thanks for the help satay, i shall just see how she goes with 12 eggs and am hoping i get a broody even if its my little frizzle that goes broody. (And i would love to go up and get one of your broodys

Hi Everyone...

Wow, what to say... My name is Sam and I'm from QLD, more specifically that little blob of a town where they make the Rum.. (yep, Bundaberg)

About a year ago I was given a duckling. A Welsh Harlequin drake. And he is adorable.. Since then I fell in love with him and got him some girls. And as of Sunday (21/10/12) I am the proud new mum of a duckling!!!! :D :D Soooo cute!! (well his actual mum is a broody chicken)

Well that's about All I can think to say on the introduction side of things... :) Xx

Hey Luke,
I agree if no options put all under her AND everything will probably be fine. I had a hen do 16 once (hidden nest). So do not worry put them under her and then literally DO NOT WORRY OR INTERFERE for 21 days - leave it up to her -and just enjoy the outcome. Many people try and regulate a broody like they do an incubator! Nature has it all sorted. Waiting to hear.

Hi,
Ok did you say Banty raising duckling?? Please please post pics.

I got a message today- So I have to apologise to you all for disappearing. being spring though... I guess we are all busy right now. So.. An update. I have 2 goslings- and 15 ducklings in my spare room right now. I took a heap to an auction last weekend- so there would be 17 more mouths to feed has i not gone. It was sad to say good bye to some of the duckies I was showing throughout the season - but I had to make room for some of the news ones now growing up.
I will try and get some photos over the weekend.
