Australians - Where are you all????

I only have four birds - we're pretty close with our neighbours so trust them to take care of the chooks. They have chickens themselves, so it's no bother just to chuck a bit of feed over the fence while they're out in their garden.

We can't go on holiday much, just the odd few days away over Christmas or Easter break.

My hens lay in a corner of the coop behind one of the nestboxes - I think they got tired of laying in them. They're always changing nesting hideouts, in the summer when the weather is good they'll disappear inside some bush goodness knows where!
The only way we get to fix it is to change the water every day, I guess it's the only way it works. We have quite a deep water container so it usually lasts a day or two at the most.

My chickens love the rain. As soon as it starts falling, they're outside soaking it up and looking really silly! The coop is practically out of bounds for them when it's raining - the aim seems to be to get as wet as possible during the short bouts of rain.

This page needs some colour...something to brighten it up.... Heading into colder weather now things are so drab and grey..... I have the perfect thing!!!!

Oh, those are bringing back fond memories of my little quackers... They looked very similar, although grew up to be white.

Had a few problems with my account here! Passwords got all mixed up because I changed my Internet provider - anyway all well now, and wanted to post the fact that I find your duckling picture ADORABLE, Ducky.

Did you make that picture? It's adorable!

I don't think I'll be doing anything special for Easter this year. Last year we took a trip down the south of SA... maybe. There's still a while to go.

Gorgeous picture - you SO missed your vocation!
Anyway,Happy Easter to you all - I'm not going to even attempt to copy THAT!

The incubator is on again-12 Barnevelder eggs and 10 silkie.

3 weeks to hatch!

Thanks... I love taking photos of the babies... and Easter and Christmas time are always a great opportunity for using some props.

I have guinea fowl hatching!!! I am already thinking of what I can do with them photo wise.... I do still have a few eggs here so I will be cranking up the ducted heating so I can take some photos when they come out of the bator.
