Well I'm feeling a bit guilty at the moment and need some aussie advice as I'm sure your the only ones that will understand.
My neighbours horse put its leg through the fence a while ago and it has been very touch and go with it getting better, it seems to have run into more problems than the early settlers! Anyway, I have been helping with the dressing changes on the leg wound, and she has also been getting other friend to help. I started work at 5am this morning so I could get home in time to watch the grand final with my footy obscessed husband, planning a lovely afternoon for the two of us. My neighbour (who doesn't like footy) came over at half time asking if I could help with a bandage change as she was worried the horses leg had swelling and was off her feed. I told her I could help AFTER the grand final finished and she gave me the puppy dog look like she was going to cry if I didn't help her then and there. But considering i had no warning until she came over and the fact I had already made plans with my husband who i dont get to see enough of anyway, I told her I would be over just as soon as it was finished.
Is this fair of me? Have I done the right thing or should i have been more willing to help sooner? I am not a vet, and if the horse has a problem there is really nothing i can do about it, and delaying a dressing change by an hour I am sure will not make things any worse.
Thoughts please? And feel free to tell me I am a cow and a bad neighbour if thats what you think.
