Rita is from Tractor Supply Co. she’s a black australorp. I’m wondering if the way her feathers stick straight up in the back is a sign that she’s having a gender identity crisis (I’ve not had any bird with such vertical feathers before so I have no idea if this is a thing). Her comb is bigger than my other pullets, but she’s my only black australorp, so I don’t really have anything to compare. I want to say she’s 5 weeks old. I know she’s still young, I’m just asking for thoughts not definitive answers.

In fact, often times (not a rule, just a trend) pullets get tail feathers more quickly. There are many exceptions but I would worry more if its tail feathers were not in if that makes sense!
