Okay. Is there any way you could explain it? There are some ways to make good guesses, and I’d love to know if your method is one.I guess I'm just magic that way. I tell by the tail feathers!
4 weeksHow early can you tell?
These were unsexed/straight run chicks?at least 16, and they were all about 4 weeks old!
They look like pullets so far.View attachment 2622270View attachment 2622271View attachment 2622272
We got these Australorps (and one other that I don't have a recent picture of) four weeks ago from Tractor Supply, but they seem older than other 4 week old pictures I've seen of this breed, so I'm not 100% sure on their age. We got a straight run because my daughter loved their personality, but we were hoping for hens. Any hope of either of these being pullets? Top is Bob, other two are Crow. (I take zero responsibility for their names)

How many cockerels and how many pullets did you end up with? What breeds?
There was about 5 roos including barred cochin, jersey giant, speckled sussex, d'uccles, and barnyard mixes. all the rest were hens including white leghorn, also jersey giant, speckled sussex, d'uccles, barnyard mix, buff orp, ee, brahma, Hamburg, and some more barred cochin. I've also had three silkie roos but i didn't judge that... i was hoping for hens on them. How many cockerels and how many pullets did you end up with? What breeds?
Interesting. Assuming you guessed right on all of them, that’s either lucky or you’ve found something that works. Still, I wouldn’t say it’s an 100% sexing method for any bird since it’s only been tested on one batch of chicks.
