Australorps breed Thread

SO our next problem has been, fitting theses giant Aussie eggs into egg boxes, since we cant close the egg boxes we had before we got our Aussies,

so i almost avoid selling them & have been keeping them back & using them for our selves...

Here's several of the 25 BAs that hatched 2/8/16 & arrived here this am. All arrived healthy, bouncy, thirsty & hungry after their day & a half journey. They seem quite content in their brooder coop ;-) LOVE <3
Love this picture ...it looks like my brooder coop in the cellar

My babes are 22 weeks old now, and I'm anxiously awaiting my first eggs! From the look of things, I'm guessing it could be any day now, but I'm new to this. What do you think?

The signs usually go in order:

Combs and wattles get big and red
They start squatting for you--look it up!
They start "investigating" the nest box
Will sing the egg song as practice. When that happens, the first egg is usually within a day or two.

Thanks!

I had tried to post a pic before, I will try again! They have definitely been singing egg-like songs, at least that is what it sounds like to me, I've never heard it in person and they seem to do it a lot! I've noticed one of them squatting too. I'm excited!!

Oh also, so far all they are doing with the nest box is taking all the straw out of it and spreading it all over LOL.

You will have eggs soon!

Should be close. Combs and wattles should be getting red and sometimes they will squat if you walk up behind them and try to pet their backs.
