Australorps breed Thread

Boy , about 1/2 of my hens are in molt right now..the last cold snap set them all into molting..
they just look so pitiful
At first I thought something grabbed her by the tail, cause this one molted so fast, One day a tail next day not. it was that fast.

YIKES! beautiful birds - but not at their peak right now!

I know, horrible,... most of them molted out and have nice feathers now but that is one of the few stragglers. I was going to enter her and another one on the thread whos bird had the worst molt ever hee hee, but some of those beat mine by a mile, There was one that was completly featherless and looked plucked, she won hands down..HA.

I feel bad for them that they decided that going into a NY winter that now would be a good time to do this..If it turns bad while they are recovering from the molt we have thier barn heated up to 60 degrees .

I've loved Australorps for many years, but only recently found out that they come in blue, white, and splash too!

I'm thrilled to find out there are other colors!

I would like to get some Australorp eggs in a few months, as I'm looking to improve my birds and also to play with the colors.

I've got several chicken projects going on, but I have plenty of room for all the birds I want.

Does anyone on this thread sell blue, white or splash Aussie eggs? Or even some black Aussie eggs from really hig quality parents...

I want to get some Black Aussies next spring. I'd like chicks or POL pullets. Does anyone in northern IN breed them and have them available for sale or will I have to order from a hatchery?
