We're starting to get things together in regards to building the new coop. For those of you that don't know, we bought a home, with a bit of property, and have moved.

Turk, I fully understand what you are saying about losing a magnificent line due to pressure to make it "better". Thank you for sharing your story. It's no small wonder that years ago, many people would grab the best representative(s) of their flock from the yard, barn, or coop, take it to the fair, and win.

I hope that you are enjoying your new place.

Congrats that is always a adjustment ..Did you move with chickens ?
A chicken friend near me moved with 60 odd chickens ..
Lost near 1/2 of them to a mink ...before he realized & caught it attacking them ..
Took the littles at 1st .
So beware you may have different predators in the new area

I have not moved the chickens yet. They are fine where they are, for now. When we get the coop done here, or at least enough of it done to safely accommodate them, then I'll move them.

Yes, we are enjoying the new house, but it has it's ups, and downs. The house itself is great. We've discovered that the water filtration system needs replacing. That's going to be about $2,500.00. Some of the pool heating equipment is needing repairs too. At this point, it looks like it will be about $300.00 worth. The whole-house generator is now working. There are 2 components we need to add to it, that were never put on it, but should have been. That will be another $400.00. The pool heater, and generator will wait until we can afford to fix them, but the water filtration system is a more immediate need. Dh should get a bonus check in Dec., but if not, we will do it in Feb. when he gets his income tax return. Hopefully we can limp along with the current water filtration system until then.

I have a coved run but its tarped up for our very cold winter!! the cd deal worked for a while I was hoping someone would have some insight on hawks do they come around the same time??
