Australorps breed Thread

Tara,
He looks real good for a 7 month old cockerel. He will fill out more in the chest and keep an eye on the tail angle. SOP calls for 40 degrees in a BA and he is just busting that a little. It could also be the way he is standing or when they alert it raises the tail angle.
All in all I like him, he will only get better. Remember he is just a punk teenage now.
Kurt
Thanks for the feedback. I need to take some more pictures, but I see what you mean.

I've had bantam australorps since 2010. I think they are the sweetest birds. I'v had some success showing them, but more important t is the improvrment I'v made with the help from breeders at the shows. I always learn something at every show i go to. I'm having some competition the last few years since I've had the advice from Jim Crain. he also is working on the bantam australorps. We have been spreading them around the country

Hi everyone. These are my babies from Kurt that hatched last Easter, a blue roo and splash hen. They are the first ones out of the coop every morning and the last ones in at night. So far, my boy has been friendly but the splash hen tends to stay away from me. I'm working on her.

So, I posted this in the Breeders & Hatcheries area, but thought I'd post here, too. I ordered 25 Black Australorps from Privett Hatchery this week, and one came in grey instead of black. I don't believe they have Blue Australorps there. Is it possible this one is blue? Has anyone every seen one start out like this and darken to black as it grows?

It could be. You might want to post another picture of it close up with the feet showing also.

Thankyou BlueBaby, I'll try to get some better ones. This was the best I could get this time because he was cold right out of the box and kept trying to crawl into my sleeve! I had to hold his feet to get him to be still enough.. haha!
