I know, right!?!?!
I tried to get some video, but she kept trying to get back to her siblings... so there's was lots of running involved.

The more I compare her to other blue australorp chick pics the more I'm wondering if she's got something else in her, because none of the other ones have the facial pattern that she has... with the eye stripes and the triangle on the head.

Well, I ordered 25 and got exactly 25, so if that's true it was a mistake, not on intentional... (unless mine was the last order filled and they didn't have the full 25 available?) That would make it even more of an interesting mystery. Does it still look like something that's gonna be blue, though?

Yes, it looks like it will be blue. Could you go back to the site where you ordered yours from and look around at the breeds that they have that would match your blue chick?

According to the list they carry Blue Langshans and Blue Sumatras. But there really isn't a way to tell the difference between those breeds and Australorps at this age is there?

Blue Langstons have feather feet unlike BA's
Kurt

That's right, I totally forgot about that...

Well, so far the blue one is among the ones with the most developed wing feathers. If that's any indication that it's more likely to be a hen, I'm happy with that. It's one of the calmer birds. Hangs out against the back wall while the others zip around with their little spurts of energy. I love watching them at this age.

My poor BA roo lost the peaks off his comb this winter to frostbite. I was surprised at how little distress he showed when he had to be in pain. It looks like his comb is made of wax and someone melted the tips off!
