Australorps breed Thread

Hopefully yours will be like mine at 8 weeks
I hope so!
There's still a chance than mine turn out to be a cockerel, and in that case I will have to re home and start ove! I was thinking about buying pullets next time, are they a lot harder to tame than baby chicks?

It doesn't have to do with the breed. All my chicks were like that at 4 weeks including my australorp. Now she is 8 weeks and loves to be held.

Yup, mine are about 6 1/2 weeks right now and the pullets are just barely walking up to me and tolerating being close to me, and only one of them is barely allowing me to touch her. Some of the cockerels have been hopping up on my hand for two weeks now.

Well my Little's are now almost 4 weeks old. Looking like I have 2 little roosters out of 6 chicks. Based on 2 barely having any tail feathers at all and the other 4 having almost 2 inch long tail feathers. First really good look other than a quick visual inspection daily and picking them up for pics once a week.
They're a bit frightened today since I took the larger Easter Eggers (7 week olds) out to the coop for the day since it's mid-high 50's. Still a bit cold for the AO's but they get the coop to themselves. Starting to get a bit crowded in there since the EE's are growing like crazy.
Do all AO's seem to grow so much slower or is it just compared to the EE's?

My australorp is 8 weeks and is probably growing average
700
