Australorps breed Thread

Got my current Aussie chicks from MM, but I am ordering eggs from Hupp Farms and some from Texas. Supposed to be SQ birds that I hope to breed and help out som e 4H kids with. The eggs from Texas came originally from Superior birds. Hard to find Aussie breeders, seems like there aren't too many around. ..........stan

My "The Australorp" by Ray Connor got here last week and I have virtually memorized the thing already. *LOL* When I was looking for my rooster I wanted to get some Aussie stock and it is virtually impossible to find anyone in the US that breeds to that standard. And of course you cannot get them shipped from there. Maybe I should start saving up for a trip to Aussieland

After reading this book though, the Australorps we have here do not even come close to their standard from what I am seeing. At least with the hatchery chicks and I have yet to find any breeders that are selling chicks from that standard. If anyone on this thread knows of anyone selling chicks at reasonable rates and willing to ship I would definitely be interested in purchasing some.

At this rate though I just might have to start from scratch and get a few orpingtons to put into the mix. hehe

Theres a few of us Aussie breeders around with good stock of aussies. My stock is out of terry Britts old line. he no longer carrys them and has since sold his flock.
