Hello everyone. I have been keeping up with your posts and pics. Good stuff! All your BA's have grown so much as have mine. Have not posted myself as I have been too busy for my own good therefore exhausted. DD! But today I am taking a mandatory day off.
My dear man purchased me a new camera so I have been trying to learn how to use it so I can get some good pics of my girls to share. Moving targets is not my thing so it is a work in progress. Will try to post a few of the best ones.
I am absolutely enjoying my girls, Bella and Peppa. They are so beautiful, quiet and friendly. They will be 11 weeks old on Thurs. so they slept in the hen house for the first time last night with my big girl, Betsy Barr Rock. Used a net divider my DH installed for them to insure the peace in their confinement. They all get along fine through fences and do frequently lay around together. With no fence or net often Betsy chases and pecks them if they get near her. So that is also a work in progress. I know it is the pecking order being established but hopefully I will be successful trying to maintain a gentle approach giving them plenty of time to work things out. I do supervised meetings with no fence between them during the day. Then often they just trade paddocks to forage and when Betsy thinks the kids are into anything she decides is hers she does the chase and peck thing to let them know she is the boss of all things that matter to her.
Hopefully I am giving the kids a chance to figure out what those things are and how to avoid them.
The girls are getting small signs of reddish color in their faces. Peppa has had the start of red waddles for weeks now but not Bella. Both still have small light colored combs. They have been molting so the new feathers have the beautiful green sheen. So nice! Seems their beautiful eyes are a very dark brown.(a real contrast to Betsy's crazy amber colored eyes) Bella still has some white tipped feathers but Peppa never did have any of them. Both are making the silly honking sounds now. Love it! They have the most impressive looking onyx legs. We are amazed. BTW, I may have missed it or forgot... is it normal for BA's to have a slight webbing of the feet?
All my best to all of you! ~Dee~
