Australorps breed Thread

Coop expansion was finished last night. I went to the Inverness show early this morning, and met with Matt1616. Yes, he had a trio for me. The whole family is in love with our new BA's. DH is talking incubator, eggs, hatching chicks, utilize the garage for them. I was so surprised I was speechless, and I haven't been that quiet in years. I will post pics soon.

Sounds like you have a very good start!! Congrats.......stan

Congrats! Good clean family fun! Well...not always so clean. But still family fun!!!

Thank you Stan. Yes, I believe I have a very good start too. My patience has paid of nicely. The rooster and 1 hen are the result of the Kirk Keene's line being outbred to Dan Castle's line. The other hen is pure Kirk Keene line. I feel truly blessed. I have very high regards for Matt.

Congrats!! You have a great start!! Several of my BA's also go back to Kirk Keene. When he was in chickens he actually only lived 50 miles from me.

Hey, I was at Inverness too. :) I had my two Tigercreek pullets and my Barnevelders. Didn't do much, but I did get some hatching eggs from Matt and Doug Akers. I'm pretty excited to get them in the incubator today. :D

This is Matt's cockerel from the show yesterday. Got Best of Breed and Champion English. He also did really well with him at Newnan and Gulf South.

Sorry, not the best picture. Hopefully something better will be published in Poultry Press.

I got a few pics. Not exactly the best to show off their form, but that will come later. DH is learning to take chick(en) pics, and they were not very cooperative. Better pics later on.

The white on them is sand. They are black with magic green sheen. The sand also reflects, making their undersides appear lighter than they are. I will be adding sod, but haven't got it in there yet.
