Australorps breed Thread

Nice Kurt!! I hope I have some hatching going on soon! Mine better be all Blacks though.

Stan (tigercreek) I figured out how to get rid of those extra comb points! Let Jack Frost handle it. Darth Vader looks like he has had a Mohawk!

Anyone? How long will that affect his fertility? Or will it?

Dan

That's one way to do it I guess... lol.... l had one lose a few points this year to frost bite, and it didn't slow his fertility down. Never heard that one, but I guess it could cause him some embrassement........stan

Dan,
I have to agree with Stan on the fertility issue. Frostbite killed me this year with 3 of my breeder cocks being scalped. With the 98% hatches I have had in the past couple of months I have to say that frostbite does not affect fertility. Good thing I did not intend to show any of them because I think I would have been DQed at the starting gate. I guess that is why some people love pea, and rose combs.

Hey! I have three australorp chicks about three weeks old... two have much longer tail feathers than than the third one, but I'm still hoping they're all pullets b/c i bought them sexed!
Everyone talked about how friendly they are, but mine seem to be deathly afraid of me! haha, they run to the corner and jump as much as they can trying to get out of the brooder, but only when my hand is in there cleaning up.
They love fighting over broccoli and dandelion freshly picked from my backyard.
