Yep Youri, they are very different. This is the hen I had when I lived in Australia. Loved her, she was a great layer, a good broody and a BIG bird.

What a little picture of perfection she is..wish we could get some like that here but we are pretty much land locked and the chances of eggs hatching from that far away are pretty slim unless someone could carry them on thier lap on the plane overnight...She looks like one of Ray Conners girls, is she? they are just little art works

here is my new australorps rooster

good to know. My Australorps, and Silver penclied rocks are my favorite breeds i have.

I love my Australorps! They were ultra friendly chicks and are very nice as they have gotten older. They are a bit wild as they live with guineas and they are bossy to my Brahmas, but protective of my new Australorp x marans.

His tail feathers have grown out quite a bit since then.

This is Doc, our free ranging roo, who plucks his tail feathers....

I had no idea that my australorps would be so nice. I got them mostly for eggs, and got some cochins as the "pets", but the 3 BA's and my one BO are sweeter and more affectionate than any of the rest. Will definitely get more in the future!
