And heres everyone. Including my white leghorn and EE roo.

I'm not 100% sure of the age of my australorp. I think I got her around 12 weeks old but not certain which would now make her 20 weeks...what signs would she show that she is going to start laying? Whenever the hen she is in with goes in the nest box to lay she goes in the coop with her and watches! (Theres 3 in her coop, herself an older her and her 10 week old chick whos a roo).

loobyloo888, when her comb turns bright red, it doesn't take long after that, and she will start laying. Check the ground at first. It takes them a bit to get the hang of it.

QueenBubbles, put one hand across the top of her back, thumb extended, and press down a little, which will pin her wings a little, then slide your other hand under her from the front, with your thumb extended to the side, as you get your hand under her, one leg will slide into where the thumb meets the hand, then simply bend the thumb around the leg. Yes, the young ones tend to be very skittery. Just keep working your coop, talking to her, and catching her daily, petting her for a few minutes, then release her. She will eventually settle down. I also set mine on a square hay bale, to pet them. They still don't "like" being caught, and held, but now they tolerate it very well, and they don't run or scurry off when I enter the coop. They like watching me change their water, fill their feeder, etc., and will follow me around. It takes time, and persistence. Treats help too.
