Australorps breed Thread

Ok y'all, I drowned my remaining eggs. I'm really kicking myself. I KNOW better. Going to order some more from the breeder, not his fault. My flock needs new blood, and, the lonely only needs a friend.

Named him Sunday. Praying for a rooster, but a hen will be fine. I'll just have to leg and her.

Too much humidity with rainy weather, when I normally do dry hatches this time of year, equals drowned chicks.

I've got a spare rooster, APA quality (haven't taken him to show yet, though), that is ITCHING for a new home. :)

He's 9ish months old here, taken last month. The white stuff is Neosporin... He tried to duke it out with our flocksire... bad idea!

I've also got three 9ish-week old cockerels. We don't need FIVE roosters on our property! From APA-quality birds. :) I know we're close (as Texas goes). Maybe we could do a swap?

All I've got is roosters, and a hen that's almost perfect! With two red feathers on her breast. I'll use her for breeding. The rest of my brood stock I'm hoarding like one of those people on that show.

However! I would love to put him over my up and coming girls, PMing you!

So sorry ...are you using a little giant ? I have trouble with those ..hope you find a chick quick!

Yes, I am. Its been a couple of years since I've done any hatching under anything but a broody hen... I remember now why I packed these styrofoam beasts away now.

Its okay. I'm saving up for a brinsea or a sportsman, I have a cabinet incubator that holds like 200 chicken eggs we used on the emu but I have no idea which storage unit its in. It hasn't been used in years and lord knows if the thing even works anymore.

Have you looked into Dickey incubators?

I have not. I will have to do that now.

Several people have them here in California and really like them.

This is from his website: http://dickeyincubators.com/

QUALITY, that's why!!!
All Dickey Incubators are individually hand-built using only 1/2" AC fir plywood with 3/4" cypress framing. This quality wood construction insures long life durability, no flimsy sheetmetal to bend or rust. Our incubators are built to last!
