They were created as a Utility line from Orpington crosses. They were imported into the US in the early 1900's with several people bringing them over. Hey guys. I bought four straight run black australorp chicks about three weeks ago. Three of them have combs already showing, but little color to them. The fourth bird's comb isn't showing yet. Any knowledge or previous experience on sexes? Do the roosters combs usually start showing earlier or later than hens or is it completely random?
They originated in Australia
I was afraid somebody was going to tell me that. =( When will they probably start crowing or showing me for sure?
