This store carries Agway products. I got their name from the Agway website. They are located about 32 miles North Martinsburg WV, about 15 miles North of Hagerstown MD off I-81. I'm going to call them tomorrow. I've been looking for soy free feeds. Thanks Melabella for the tip.

Oh so glad I could help someone! It will be curious to see how prices compare. Even if they don't have it, they probably can order if for you since they do carry Agway products. At first my store didn't carry it, but then she put in an order for it, and always keeps a few bags in stock for me.

In fact, there was a thread on here a while back where an Agway rep chimed in about it a bit ago.

Thanks, that's good to know. The feed game is frustrating. If you want good feed, it's hard to find and you will pay dear for it.

BTW, is your avatar a King Charles Spaniel? Beautiful markings. Do you show dogs?

We have away store in town so I'm going to check it out..long time ago they didn't have any..since we eat lot of Australorp eggs, I want to make the switch.

Hi,, lol,,,, yes, this is Delilah our tri color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is two now, but came across this picture of her as a baby. I don't show dogs, but did get her from a reputable breeder who does. I have got to tell you, this breed is in the Toy group with the AKC. She is every bit a rugged country dog like my LSGD English Shepherd,(unless it's raining, she hates the rain). I think they belong where their bloodlines are from, in the Sporting Group. She is in tune with all my routine around this small acerage, and can flush any bird out of the thickest brush. We got our ES to shadow her and protect her, especiallly when two jack russel terriers down the road got picked off by coyotes last year. Don't tell her that though, she heads out there and barks a storm up the minute she catches scent of somthing. Jack my English Shepherd is like a silent stealth bomber. He only barkes when there is something immediate I should know about. Here is Jackson.

I did have to work with her for about a week when the chicks arrived, but she learned well that they belong here, and she doesn't mess with them.. She actually helps round them up when I am in a rush to put them away. Thanks for asking, we all love our pets so, don't we? Do you have any dogs?

Good morning, all!

Long time lurker, first time post. I'm a backyarder that is thinking of transitioning into a single breed. Currently, my very small flock of hens is: 1 Plymouth Barred Rock, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 3 BA's. I had a Copper Marans rooster, given to me by a friend that I loved very dearly, but he was killed last week by a raccoon. Broke my heart, he was such a sweet boy.

After doing much research, I've narrowed down my thoughts on a single breed to a BA's. I live in an area where it gets over 100 for weeks in a row in the summer. My current BA's do very well in it, along with the other 2 breeds I have. I let them all free range, but pen them at night because of said raccoons and coyotes. I have started switching from cheap food to food with better protein (thanks for the pics to the company in King City, CA which is a couple of hours away!).

I checked my BA's this morning for some SOP (I feel so smart using the abbreviations). They all have beautiful black legs, white toe nails and white under their feet, two with a little black speckling. I purchased them from 2 different backyard breeders in the area.

I understand that there is a learning curve to get into this. I'm trying to go about getting a more superior flock and knowledge for the breed. First off, thank you all for the wealth of information!!!! You are all so giving and helpful. Second, if you all could give me some advice as to how to best go forward, what would it be? Mistakes that you wish you hadn't made? I haven't purchased any more BA's until I learn a bit more. I've hopped on the Australorp site from Australia. Any other sites you recommend?

Again, thanks for everything. You all are amazing with your knowledge!

Hi, just to let you know I called the store in PA and they carry a full line of Agway poultry feeds including meat chicken feed @ 22%protein, which I need for my annual shipment of Cornish Rocks. I'll drive up there when I'm back on my feet and look it over. Are you still feeding Agway and if so, are you feeding it exclusively or with other feeds.

You have some great dogs there, you obviouly take good care of them! I have 7 Jack Russells that are in the last years of their life. The youngest is 12 and the oldest is over 16! I figure we'll be looking for a new dog in a couple of years.
