Australorps breed Thread

Ahh Mrs. B keep me in mind when you're beta testing eggs. ;)

Day two (three?) of the chicks going without heat. It got pretty cold last night, but they're blocked from the wind and there's 23 of them. They look fine, chilled, but fine. I just hate putting four week olds out this early :/ I'll have to run a lamp out to the permanent pen soon, there's a cold front coming next week just in time for my day olds to arrive and my big kids to go outside. Yay!

You might not have any trouble with the hatchery you ordered from ...Some do , Some dont ..
Best to wait & see what happens ..keep us updated
Will do Gramma! As always with new chicks I am excited, but I have that doubt now. I guess it is better to be somewhat doubtful, and when nothing goes wrong, it is much more of an upper. No doubt and one little unwishing surprise occurs and all seems wrong. I will send pics of everything and report every change. Everyone will know my experience with McMurray and Meyers.

Of course! You're practically down the road from me, as Texas goes. :)

I've got poor @ronott1 standing by when my big mamas start laying again. I'm planning on shipping him eggs (I still remember!!!).

We'll have to help each other keep our genetics fresh!!! ;)

Yes yes!!

I think out of the Christmas chicks I have four confirmed roosters... The combs and cock fighting amongst them tells me my worst fears. However, I'll have plenty of back up roosters and roosters for the bachelor pad when I'm picking out a breeder. Wahoo!

Hopefully one of these boys gets pretty close to the sop...

Ahhhhh light bulb moment. I've wondered why our australorp years ago never showed any signs of broodiness but I've read they have a tendency towards it. Of course, she came from a hatchery duh
