I don't necessarily let them out to free range but thy have a huge yard, that they get access to during the day as well as their normal yard, which is already fairly big by itself.
I'm currently happily keeping 45 birds all up in this set up... I originally got into chooks to sell their eggs, so I've got a lot of production cross breeds... I'm planning to get more into pure breeds now, so I'm going to slowly re-home my production layers... Hoping to end up with a total of 20-25 birds, which will be much more manageable.
I've come to the conclusion that if things aren't working out with a young roo, I'll move him in with my dad's small flock of production layers (10 hens) until I've got his new pen built
So this is what I've come home with
(excuse the mess in the background of the photos... I was in my parents metal recycling yard)
Blue Cockerel (His dad is stunning!!) I'll have to think of a name for him... I like to name my roosters
My other rooster is called, Mr. Roo... such a creative name, i know

Blue pullet... She's quite a dark blue compared to the others, which i'm glad about, I like the dark ones.

Black pullet 1

Splash pullet

Black pullet 2

And last... the lady also had some Plymouth Rocks in with the Aussies... only one pullet left, I just couldn't resist... so I've got this little one too

I'll get some nice photos of them on my DSLR in the next day or so, once they're settled in
