My Aussie girls surprised me today by being very affectionate with me. Three of my four girls took turns sitting on my lap to be pet, something they haven't really wanted to do since they were about 7 weeks old. It had been a rough day, my second day of a severe migraine, and I went into their run for a little extra "chicken therapy". It was a lovely gift they gave to me and had me grinning from ear to ear and helped me forget about the pain. Sometimes its the smallest things that bring the most happiness. :)

Sorry to hear about your migraine - I used to get them terribly before we found the source and stopped them. Glad your girls helped <3 I swear animals can just tell sometimes that we need some extra love and will help us out. One of my cats is that way

Ouch ! Yes they help your mood ..
Do you take enough B vitamins ...some people get help by increasing the dosage ..

Is the Bathroom dark ? if they are just sleeping it should be fine.
I guarantee they will be happy to see you in the morning ...A Bonding Experience

I dim it as much as I can, but I have the heat lamp in there for one more week before I take it away. I keep the house at 68 and following the feed stores advice of dropping temp 5 degrees every week they'll be ready next week for that final drop down to 70. They definitely get excited in the morning because it means freedom from their box haha they're also very sweet girls, when I open the door they charge up to me and want petted. If I sit down with them, they snuggle up against my legs and start a preen and cuddle session. Two enjoy when I rub their chests, one only likes her back and back of neck pet but they will bicker over who gets pet and get jealous for sure! I definitely lucked out on the temperament department, these girls are too cute. Only problem we have now is when I try to leave they run behind me!

I do take vitamins, but my migraines are a result of head trauma that occurred over 20 years ago. I haven't had a week without a migraine since and have only had a handful of days without even a regular headache. The only thing they can do is give me pain killers, but I don't like the side effects. When things get really bad I take Excedrin + Valerian Root and lay down to sleep until it passes. I won't take anything stronger than that combination or ibuprofen and have just learned to adjust over the years through lifestyle changes, massage, exercise and diet. After 24 years I've adapted pretty well overall, but some days are just really, really bad. Monday was one of those days. The vertigo was so severe that I couldn't stand and walk without support from my husband and the pain was excruciating. By yesterday it had subsided to a tolerable but annoying level and today I'm back to "normal" for me.

Thansk again for the tips. Yep, definitely momma bird! I'm used to it - with the chicks and my parrots I'm up to 6 feathered kids now haha I hand raised all my parrots at a pet shop I worked at! They startled my hubby - he said he opened the door to check on him and he thought they were charging him! Silly hubby thought they were going to attack, but they just pecked his toes for food and sat on his feet instead!

I'm curious... I know you say it was caused by a head injury... But what are you doing when they begin? Could it be an emotion you are experiencing or a thought you are having at the time that triggers them?

Awww. I know how horrible the pain can be. I am so glad that the chickens could be your therapy, and you were well enough to share with us.
