Australorps breed Thread

Hi,

That is a Pullet. Keep the name Melanie:

• Examine the blade of the comb which is the lobe-like area at the rear of the comb. Roosters have rounded blades nearly half the length of the comb. Female Australorp chickens have combs that only cover two-thirds of the head and end in a sharp point.

Also, She does not have cackle feathers at the neck and the tail feathers are short.

Also, they often start crowing at seven weeks or so.

Looks like a great Pullet, enjoy the eggs.

Seven weeks, huh? So if Greta is a boy, she should start vocalizing it soon? Mine must be mixes since at six weeks, the combs on mine are substantially smaller than willowbranchfarm's Melanie at the same age.

Yeah my other chickens that are Ba's dont have the red comb and wattles. They have a little yellow comb and tiny wattles.

Glad I found this thread Australorps are a great breed I love mine they are sweet and great layers my birds were here when I bought my farm from my father he has had this breed forever and would kill me if I ever sold them all
