Authentic Woods KD (Knock Down) 10' by 16' Coop Build

Pics
You are so right! I have been in a frenzy since last Friday when I started to assemble the coop. My sister and BIL arrived very early Tuesday morning and are a great help. The coop will be habitable and secure this weekend, no run but better that the temporary cage I have for them when they arrive. It is not secure but I will move it in and out of the workshop over the next few days.

You will make it, I know... you did the right thing early on not getting your chickens before the coop. It really looks good, how long does Black Jack 57 take to flash off?

@jthornton Dry time is a bit variable I believe, have seen some folks say 24 hours but depends on temperatures and humidity. We are forecast for high 60s for the next week and low humidity.

@aart I have a cage that is 8' by 6' by 3' that I will use, very small I know but will motivate me to keep pushing. I will get HC when I pickup the hens and make the windows secure within the next couple of days so their time in the cage will be short. I am wondering about how long the 19 week old hens will take to acclimatize to changes, again know that they do not like changes.

Just give them plenty to do while they wait. My chicks were busting out of the brooder so I had to expand their area with some temp barriers and put plenty of things for them to explore until I got the coop done.

Change is carefully approached, observed with cocked heads, then pecked at to determine edibility... they will get over it soon.

Ted, I know it might be sealed but OSB doesn't take water very good. Maybe not right now, but next year I would consider siding it with something. Metal, vinyl or something.

The floor looks great though!

@archeryrob I do know that OSB is very susceptible to moisture particularly on the edges. When I built the garage/workshop I had 24" concrete knee walls put in specifically to elevate the wood off the ground enough that splashes from roof run-off would not cause the sheets to get wet. It has been a bit of time since I last looked at the bottom of the OSB but, with your reminder, I will do an inspection in the next few days.

I appreciate your cautions.

@aart (Oh ye of little faith...)

Flat roofs , windows covered in HC only to start, 6' width of floor left - do this first then my sister will do the BJ57 while BIL and I do the roof, windows. Roof done in 4 panels laying on the shop floor and then lifted on with the tractor.

A challenge I admit but that is what needs to get done.
