Synthetic pesticiedes were used increasingly in the 1930's soon after autism was becoming increasingly common(same time as vaccines were being blaimed), I think we may have a link to autism. STOP POISIONING THE FOOD! We as a nation have sat back while the goverment claims chemicals are safe. why? for money! why won't they stop? money! I think they have proof that pesticides are harmful but like many other things it gets covered up. rant but with reason.

I believe it.. pretty scary.

There's all kinds of proof that pesticides and herbicides are harmful. There's proof that when they are combined, like they would be in any yard, garden, or other area where people use both, the effect are not just doubled. They have a synergistic reaction and become something like 10 X's more toxic (or more, I don't remember the numbers) than either alone. This also applies to being exposed to multiple pesticides. A single bell pepper from the supermarket may have as many as 5 pesticides present on it.

Google the MSDS on any pesticide or herbicide, you'll see info that makes you wonder why on earth this stuff is still legal. But we know why, you nailed it-money.

I don't think statements like this are helping anybody. Autism is recognised as genetic disorder but the actual causes of the disorder are as yet unknown. Autism should not be used as a soapbox for you to complain about pesticides and herbicides.

If you wish to point out the proven dangers of these products please do so, I'm sure many would be interested.

For you to make such a tenuous link when medical science claims that there is no firm evidence that environmental factors contribute to autism is just too much.

There is still little evidence that the incidence of autism is increasing, as with many conditions the apparent increase in diagnosis may be coming from improved methods of diagnosis, reclassification of some condition codes and simply wider awareness of the condition.

If you really want to help people with autism go here and donate.

There is proof that pesticides are linked to adhd http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/05/100517132846.htm which is a neuro problem, also my son comes from a normal family no genetic link. Also my city is riddled with pcb/toxic dumps just under the soil hidden. The parks we build have to be decontamanated. Is it a odd that pesticides are NEUROTOXINS and no one is harmed?yet in animals it causes hyperactivity and cognitive deficits in animals. Odd coinceidence if you ask me!

It all types of diseases. I have RA where my body attacks my joints, tendons and muscles, even my heart. This is not a old persons disease (kids can get it) and is not to be confused with other types of artrites like osteo that everyone gets that lives long enough. It is a auto immune disease that can be genetic, but is triggered by a environmental link. The exact trigger is not known. Smoking is one trigger they have found in twin studies. Seems to be more in females than in males.

No problem - but that's not autism and there is no proof of a link of any sort between pesticides and autism.

If that [pesticides & ADHD] was really the point you wanted to make in your first post then that is the point you should have made.

There is a very plausible theory about the cause of autism and it has NOTHING to do with pesticides, vaccinations, heavy metal toxicity or moon spots....

As a parent of an autistic child (and as an adult with ADD), emotional tirades blaming pesticides for autism are not helpful. An actual vitamin D study WOULD BE.
(Keep in mind I garden organically and don't use pesticides.)

I don't see why it couldnt' be linked. I know my allergies and asthma are defintely attributed to the fact that I grew up on a commercial farm (loss of topsoil and pesticides all make for breathing in the nasties)
