Last night I found one of my girls dead in the run. There were feathers everywhere around the walk up and the automatic door area. The door was open (should have been closed) . The read out on the door said it was jammed.
Has anyone heard of the door killing a chicken? I can't find any other reason.

What kind of door is it? If it doesn't ratchet or by other means lock in place a raccoon can pry them open. I'd think that's a likely scenario. Would cause the sensor to read jammed and why your bird was mauled by a predator. Feathers everywhere is a predator.

They were locked in their pen...no way anything got to her. if so they could have gone up into the coop and gotten the rest of them.
On another note...my neighbors new dog just broke through the fence . It killed 3 if my girls. I have one that it looks like a bad wing and another with a broken leg. One is just gone. I know she is hiding but i pray she didn't go thru the broken fence and is hiding over there. Pray for my girls...this has been a HORRIBLE weekend.
