Today, I awoke to find a hen, Ava, and our rooster, Chippy, dead in the run.
Ava was obviously attacked by a predator, where as Chippy just seem deceased.
A vet is doing a necropsy on the both of them tomorrow.
They suspect it may be the work of a fox.
We have all been absolutely devastated and distraught by this.
If you see my previous post, I was just a foster parent for these chickens. We are considering permanently homing one of them, Buttercup.
If we were to be a permanent home for Buttercup, how could we protect her against foxes and other ground predators?
We would like to build a reinforced coop/run.
All help is appreciated.
Thank you.
