Please send prayers. My birds are sick. I’m surrounded by commercial chicken farms. They are reporting losses too. I haven’t had a death yet. I reported symptoms to the vet and USDA officials. I just returned from dropping off 3 of my flock at Wallace State’s Poultry Lab. They were euthanized and sent to Auburn University for testing. I’m so sad! I’ll know soon the outcome. They won’t stop until they know what the illness is. If flu positive… they will euthanize every poultry bird within one mile of me.

So sorry about your birds. What symptoms are you seeing? Have you used anything for treatment? Has there been any avian flu diagnosed in your area recently? Are you keeping your birds in a secure covered run to keep wild birds from getting to them or their food/water? I hope that your necropsy results come back as negative for avian flu.

We called the vet at first sign of symptoms—swelling of the face, eyes closed, listless, fluffed up, respiratory problems, difficulty / open mouth breathing, and not eating. So no treatment—veterinary recommends waiting for correct diagnosis. Yes we are now quarantined. My birds were free range just yesterday—-no symptoms yet.
