I can't answer your question about her development but did want to add to this old thread because your post was more recent. We have been battling pox since August. Almost all of my 22 chickens ranging in age from 5 mos-1 year have now had it although a couple I am not sure about. It was easy with them, their egg production dropped off (but it was really hot then, too) but one poor orpington has gotten it and it has progressed & she looks terrible & I am now syringe feeding her. I have been dousing the crustaceans which are all over her face although none protrude like I have seen some pictures. Her whole comb is one black crust, her eyes are crusted over & her beak has black near the top & inside. All my chickens free range & eat organic feed. I am praying we don't lose this girl because she is one of the kids' favorites but its weird how the others didn't hardly get it at all & she is looking like she'll die from it. without serious intervention. Just wanted to add that to the discussion in case anyone else finds this thread searching on this subject.
