Awesome Ebayer fights back agains bad shippers.

I, also, have had a problem with irregular and porous eggs. People who ship eggs on a regular basis (and expect top dollar) really should have some quality control. Beautiful packing will not make these eggs hatch. Most of these people want you to leave positive feedback on their packing, but maybe we should also state something about egg quality. dak

It is impossible to determine egg quality if they all arrive broken. You are right though. I can tell a pourous egg looking at it.

Yep, I too have been receiving a lot porous eggs lately, I just assume people collect the eggs and ship them but don't candle them first.

I've bought more eggs of the same breed from another seller. I did comb through her feedback and found cases where she send replacements free of charge. That shows me that this seller truly cares. This made me purchase from her. As usual I hope for a 50% hatch rate. Best I've ever had was 80% from mail ordered eggs. 30% is also fine with me.
Anyway, I will be selling their eggs next year, because there is no way we can eat all of them. I can tell you that I will offer replacement eggs for mishaps. So there will be a shared responsibility. And I do not expect to make a living selling eggs. It will be a hobby for me.

Heck alot of my eggs that are porous I can see without candling!! LOL!

I bought eggs earlier in the year and wasn't super impressed to be honest. The seller had sent EXACTLY the amount of eggs that I purchased, which is wrong IMO, because it doesn't leave room for breakage. If a few break, and there are extras, you still get what you paid for. If there are no extras, you don't. Even if I had asked to have the 10 or so reshipped, it would have cost me a ridiculous amount, when, the seller could have just sent the extras as added insurance, as most egg sellers usually do. The other thing that peeved me off about it was the fact that the seller had sent double yolkers. There were a good number of them as well, at least 8 of them. Most everybody knows that double yolkers are almost guaranteed to fail.

I bought eggs at the livestock auction, which IMO is a huge gamble. I assume that anybody could sell rotten eggs, though I've never heard of it happening, it still is a calculated risk IMO. Anyways, I bought 18 Barred rock bantam eggs and 24 duck eggs. MOST of them are actually doing great. Two or three duck eggs had hairline fractures, but they are developing. Several of the BRB's were incredibly porous, but I believe that most of them are developing as well.

Yep, that sucks, even if you get a double yoker to lock down, you still have a high probability of losing the baby.

The thing is that people have simply forgot about "doing the right thing" anymore. Yes, buyers can be extremely unreasonable. They are few and far between, but they do exist, hence all the prefacing about not guaranteeing eggs. Sellers though have the ethical responsibility to do the right thing. To me, this includes sending fresh, evenly sized (big deal for bantam ducks, which I raise), fairly clean (not completely covered in mud) eggs promptly and packed well. You have to put yourself in the other person's shoes and stop to think that sometimes it is entirely reasonable to replace eggs, free of charge. It amazes me to sometimes see people arguing over little to nothing dollar wise. Life is too short. Sometimes, in business (if you want to be truly successful) you have to help out somehow just because it is the nice thing to do, not because you are necessarily at fault per se.

What goes around really does come around. I firmly believe this. Almost 30 years ago, I had a nice man really step up to the plate and go way above and beyond the call of duty to help me. He did it simply to be nice and help out a kid, not for any sort of recognition. He went on to become one of the most famous waterfowl breeders in the country. I'm sure the kindness he put out in the world came back to him tenfold. Do the right thing by people. (and that holds true for when you are the buyer too, not just the seller).

I add extra , not for breakage, as I never had a broken egg in four years. the extra i sent are to help the hatch rate.

Myself if they get them unbroken, the rest is upto them...Some eggs are hard to hatch, and people using cheap incubator, doesn't help.

Even eggs that don't form can be from the shipping..all depends on the trip.. I don't replace eggs that don't hatch.....

I do everything right on my end...fresh eggs, stored in cool area, turned every day. Packed well

Sounds like this seller might be a "fly by night" seller, or will keep changing his name, since it states :~Member since: Mar-29-10 ~
I'm sure the BUYER who left the feedback is getting bombarded with "Thank You" messages. Glad he called the seller out.

Hi! Good for him, for getting the point across to a large audience.
And thanks for the link!
There is NO excuse for eggs being shipped like that.
I hope the buyer was able to dispute the fees and get his money back. The seller didn't seem to want to make an effort to make it right.
I'm not familiar with how ebay works (not a fan of ebay/auctions), but is it common to charge $18.95 shipping for a box of eggs? I would never buy from someone that listed that shipping charge.

I *personally* am hesitant to buy from a seller who uses *the disclaimer* and/or states outright they will neither replace or refund eggs. @#$%... %$#@... #$@^...
I have no birds that lay eggs that are *so* expensive or popular, but I stand behind my eggs/wrapping/packing and would replace them in a second if they were broken in shipping --- no question (never had any broken eggs ever, since '06).
Some people are just lousy, nasty people and nothing will change them.
