awkward no more trade 2 dozen eggs for....

I was going to trade a bottle goat nanny for some rare breeds of chickens. Problem was the lady was counting her chicks before the eggs hatched and they didn't hatch because her cat unplugged the 'bator. So I ended up selling the nanny to someone else. I hope to barter some here soon. Maybe my horse for something or some chickens for something.

We have traded eggs for movie rentals, plants from the local nursery and stuff for our hot tub. We also trade plants for all the above. I love bartering and your right one day the dollar will not be worth a whole lot.

If the be known.... I tell my kids "chickens are fun!" but I know now in my heart as the economy slides and sinks to no recovery that having 120 chickens is a new currency when (if ha!) it gets worse for us all.

Let us all PRAY and hope to our God/higher power that this will not happen.

I need to join a barter club and get to know my neighbors better.
We just got 6 goats too and a bottle fed steer calf ( calf only $150) it will fill my freezer with 1000 lbs of meat. I thought THAT was a good deal too.

My garden failed 6 times due freezing and flooding. well 7th time is the charm. I am planting again today. My husband and I will go to a local "pick your own produce" and start canning our own veggies by fall....

How may of you other "chicken lovers" are planning for the worst but hoping for the best? Am I the only one that feels this way?
I feel scared sometimes!

We traded a recliner for a paint job.
3 living room tables for a coop. brand new.
it holds 6 hens up stairs and down stairs is all inclosed for their excersize yard. we call it the duplex.
bartering is a great way to get what you need and what others need. and you get to know great people.
