Saw my roo feeding his hens spaghetti yesterday. He found the spaghetti and then called everyone over and started feeding it to them. Awww....

He also likes to lay in the nest when my lower hens need to lay, I think its more to keep the higher ones from pecking them out. He will also stand in front of the nest and coo to the hens. He will go in and fix the nest before the hens lay in it. I also have a pair of fuzzys in a pen and he will do the same thing when she needs to lay an egg. I've even seen him sitting on the egg/golfballs when I go to pick it up.

Do anyone elses roosters do anything sweet for their hens?

Mine will call them over to where he is if he finds some good things to eat but as far as anything else, he couldn't care less.

What a gentleman!

I don't technically have a rooster anymore, but my neighbor's rooster (the only chicken they have) has adopted some of my girls, the ones who are rebellious and keep hopping the fence. He's very alert and protective of them. I suppose I'll miss him if anything ever happens to him. I'm sure he'd take a bullet for "his" girls.

Awww, what a sweetheart!!! My rooster will call his girls to show them food and let them eat it all to the point where he won't get any of the 'treats' - and he does like to make nests for the girls once in a while but that's usually when they're out in the yard playing with a cat carrier lol

Mr Freddy my roo will be with the girls & here one singing the egg song in the coop & will run over to the coop & escort the girl back to the flock. Its funny to watch .

No, his name is Phoenix. I was tossing out some lizards to them yesterday and he wouldn't ever eat one, he just let the hens fight over them, wich was funny to watch. He would just alert the girls everytime I came over with some. (yes I caught lizards to feed my chickens, they were all over they porch yesterday)
