Ayam Cemani chicks 8-9 weeks old

Any guesses if these male or female? I bought them as hatching eggs and they have me stumped. Also, are these really cemani? The seller told me this breed has a high cull rate, but these chicks don't look like any pictures I've seen on the internet. Chick #3 hatched with a chipmunk pattern.

Um those are crossbreeds. I'm so sorry.

They do look like they have some Ayam Cemani in them, but definitely aren’t purebreds. The first one does look slightly rooster-ish, but I’ve found it very hard to be sure with this breed because of the black combs.

Not pure cemani and probably not worth the effort to get them back to something that breeds true. But, I really like the spangle/mottling. It would have taken a few generations to get that look.

2 and 3 are looking like pullets.

Nice! Why do you say #4 is a cockerel? I think you are correct, because his behavior is kinda rooster-y... but the face looks more like a hen to me?

I recently hatched out 3 pullets from 3 pure ayam cemani eggs. I also had 2 mosaic chicks I hatched out of 2 mosaic chick eggs. (They were a boy and a girl) I am not completely sold on the AC breed, but they are interesting.

I'm trying to get out of them. The local market is flooded now and it's hard to even give them away. They have no redeeming qualities that I can see.... unless you're into the whole spiritual ceremony thing. I guess the iridescence is nice, but you can find iridesence in a plain ole black-breasted red.
