This looks very much like my Ayam Cemani over Cornish X cockerel. His legs are getting progressively darker. Very red comb and wattles. Skin is splotched black and pink...but mostly pink.

Current hatch...just this morning:

When crossing a Fibromelanotic rooster over hens that are yellow or White shanks this will produce a sex linked cross, Females will have Black skin at hatch and roosters will have white skin at hatch..

How does this work? My understanding was that feathering followed mom on boys, and follows dad on girls? With skin color being the opposite?

I would love to get an AC rooster and hen, anyone selling or giving away? I’m stationed in NC at Ft Bragg.
I’ve not been able to find any at all and would love some to raise and mix and the kids would be thrilled to see them in person

i hatched 4 eggs from My AC roo; 3 with buttercup hen and 1 with blue austrolorp. Here they are at about 5 months. Ended up with one hen. The buttercup roos are gorgeous. Buttercup combs, both turning red. Looks like the hen is the only one that's going to have a black comb.

We just hatched 12 chicks under a broody. They are from a flock with 2 roosters (1 AC and 1 barnyard mix) and 9 different (no AC) full breed hens. If I'm understanding correctly, the resulting chicks with black feet are the AC offspring and the light colored feet can be from either the barnyard mix or AC? Also, if the rooster had a double black gene then his offspring would be mostly black, but if only 1 black gene they will be a greater mix of colors? I hope I am saying this all correctly and easy to understand my question.
It's cold here so we haven't taken them out to really get a good look at them all yet. We will wait until it warms up in a day or two. Let mum do her job and keep them toasty warm. Thank you!

Depends on the quality of your AC, if he's homozygous (double black gene as you said) for the black then only black legged chicks will be his. Same with the down colours- if he is homozygous then only black based chicks will be his. however, this includes dominant modifiers like barring or blue that may have come from he hen.

I'm assuming he's more of a novel rooster if he is running around with a mixed flock that includes no AC hens. And the price was extremely reasonable for 12 fertilized eggs. We were not looking for anything more as most of the hens will be found homes once feathered out. We are really enjoying the process of watching our kinda skittish top hen be so loving and committed to her eggs/chicks.
From just watching them with mama I have not see any all black chicks and the ones with dark legs are more of a grey IMO. But we have not lifted them up and really checked. All I know is they are ALL so stinkin cute!!! Thanks for the science behind it, that was my curiosity. I'm just weird like that
