Hi I'm looking into raising Ayam Cemanis and I have a couple questions I can't seem to find answers to. Does anyone know if they sell well in Texas? I want to stay a small breeder so I'm not really wanting to ship chicks or eggs at least not for now. I know they have a large price tag but I'm just wondering how big a market there is for this breed. My other question is can you show this breed? Iv looked all over the Internet and havnt seen anywhere that mentions showing Ayams. This site always has so much good info I thought I'd try asking y'all. Thanks ahead of time.

Ayam cemani's probably sell well anywhere IF they are high quality re: their standard of perfection, from good bloodlines and well raised. Every black bird is NOT of proper breed character. Though some "great rich quick(they think)" sellers will try to pass them off on buyers.

Check out the ayam cemani breed thread and learn about them. Buy from reputable source and be prepared to spend a lot.

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. I'm unfamiliar with the breed and I'm far from Texas. But good luck with your endeavors. :frow
