Congrats on your babe that made it! :love

Sex linked by skin color (only in that direction).. Female offspring would be dark skinned and male offspring light skinned.. may take a few days after hatch to develop.. and easiest seen under the wing pits.. But I (think) can tell by the bottom of your boys feet (those won't turn dark).. it's a cute little cockerel. I hope I'm mistaken since you're hoping for a girl.

See post # 19 in the following thread for a picture reference of sex linked skin color to compare yours against..

Sorry others didn't make it. Did you have another thread set up or want to discuss possibilities of what happened during incubation or how to correct it?

My mother hen went broody sat on some eggs, she then said wait never mind I’m feeling non hormonal and spilled her water. The eggs got went but I still threw them into the incubator with hope! 4 died (they got really stinky) and this little guy made it.

I’ve hatched out 3 sets of chicks this year, they were 95-100% success rate, except this one, there journey was rough lol.

Attached is a pic of a hen that could also be a suspicious mother to this chick, her egg color is the same (maybe slightly different) than the astra white hen. This hen I believe is a EE. She has Australorp and Ameraucana in her (that would be a EE then right? My friend told me this she gave me the egg for my hen to hatch. Her Ameraucana rooster was pure bred and huge! Ever rooster I have had from his blood line has been massive!

So if she is the mother, how would her offspring look? I figured it was the austra white offspring because she (let’s just say she) had white in her (being hopeful here)

Edit: the first pic is actually a pic of both suspected mothers lol, I need a dna test stat!
