Some chickens even live with both legs cut off. Even if it doesn't heal perfectly I think he'll make it. Your feeding RAW egg yolk? I think I'd boil it first.

He got boiled yolk today, and ate with enthusiasm! I redid his hobble/bandage splint thing 3 times, his littermates keep helping him remove it. I think it's a him, I honestly have no clue the sex of these chicks.

I feel bad for him, the other chicks are sprinting back and forth across the brooder box, he's in a corner.

I do pick him up quite often and he seems to really enjoy it, I cup him in my hand to support him while he gobbles up soft boiled egg yolk and nutridrench water, he will snuggle up in my hand, but then I'll hear his littermates cheeping loudly for him.

The little guy is still doing well, I redid his hobble/brace again an hour ago, he/she/it is very talkative and seems to get along fine on just the one strong leg.

We did physical therapy 5 times today where I stretched out it's messed up leg/hock. Many large bites of boiled egg yolks from my laying flock were eaten today along with nutridrench water. That's being done 5-8 times a day, it seems to be thriving still, but not as big/advanced as it's littermates.

One of the chicks obviously doesn't resemble any type of fm/cemani leaning tendencies. They are getting more and more curious and rambunctious every few hours.

The 2 smallest chicks have the most black saturated coloring, but a bit of white leakage on the tips of wings and bottoms. Of course, checking often for pasty butt issues, none so far.

If the hand mirror can be found, it might go into the brooder box tomorrow.

Everyone is put up for the night. Temp is 87f in the cool part of the brooder box where everyone is hanging out at. Lights are off except the 250w heat lamp. Tomorrow I'm changing bedding, I might put down paper towels with the grippy shelf liner in it with a soft pad of the waffle woven microfiber in too. They might be big enough for a regular little water dish in a few days, and my 26 chicks outside are growing by leaps and bounds too!

I'm worried about him. I keep trying to vet wrap up his little feet/legs but mysteriously it keeps getting undone, he pecks at it. I'm stopping the egg yolk thing after this last one is gone (cocci worries).

There are 3 pretty big chicks getting wing feathers, but not the hurt little guy. The very black chicks are the smaller so far.

Idk wtd for him besides what's being done. In about 2 weeks (a long time in a brooder) I will be getting more day/s old svart honas chicks. With his lack of growing he might be staying in this brooder box when they arrive while I move the other 4 to the barn brooder boxes.

Now thinking, 3 svart honas chicks aren't going to be enough, maybe I should get 5? That will max out my budget though.

This is a lot of work!

He keeps getting out of the hobble. I'm trying my best to keep him alive/thriving. But I started to cry a bit here and there, idk what I'm doing, he's half the size of his littermates. I feel so bad for him, but I don't want to give up on him!!
