ayam cemani x orpington chicks 1 spraddle legged?

I'd love to have some Ayam Cemani! Such a gorgeous breed! Expensive, but gorgeous nonetheless!
Jealous you snagged some! Good luck with your chicks!

I didn't really know the breed but I just googled it and I LOVE it like crazy! They are so cool!

Yes, they are very cool!!

I'm bringing the one with hock issues back to my friend tomorrow, when I go to pick up 2 pure breed ayam cemani and 2 more suspected haffies, the ayam cemani x orpington.

In 2 weeks svart honas chicks will be here, they are very similar to the cemani. But are from Sweden. Yes, these breeds of chicks can be very expensive, I'm getting svart honas from dcchicken here on byc, but my friends ayam cemani come from byc member wolfwhyte, but are NOT from his Smithsonian ayam cemani lines.

This is one of my friends cemani hens, and one of her roos that my chicks are from. I'll take more picts tomorrow of the paint black/white orpington daddies.

My friend is going to take care of it, since I don't know how to fix the little guy, she has more experience than I do with raising chicks/chickens.

It makes me cry when I see it struggle to keep up with it's littermates. I'm bringing it back to her tomorrow and picking up 4 more chicks from the same mothers that hatched this week, 2 more cemani x orpington, and 2 purebreed ayam cemani chicks. I'm lucky to have such a wonderful friend. And her flocks are so beautiful!

Everyone is put up tonight, all 40 of my chickers! After this weekend I'll have 43! Whhaaatt!

Ok, so I restrained myself ahem with just 42 chickens. Lol

I have 6 little chicks, 2 have yellow feet/legs/eyeliner look of the orpington leaning phenotype if you will, and others are more cemani leaning. Like that little diva, or this suspected cockrel.

Adorable babies! They are soooo cute! Aren't Ayam Cemani chicks expensive? How much were the chicks you just got?

Ayam cemani chicks are expensive, but these are the results of an orpington jumping into the cemani pen, some of these are definitely more not cemani looking, while others are possibly pure breed. I'm getting them from my friend's flock that's local for a reasonable price, as some of these aren't pure breed.

She's also getting a juvenile pair from gff soon, so in the spring they should be laying fertile eggs and I can add some of those to this flock too. I am not keeping any of these that are males. The temporary haffie/cemani coop is in the works. The 1/2" hardware cloth is coming in tomorrow.

I really adore these chicks! I have a total of 42 chickens atm, with plans to add more. Yes I'm busy but happy lol.

I go from chicken area to chicken area when I want to change channels on chicken tv. My bf enables me in my obsessive chicken disorder = ocd and lets my chicken math get the best of me. Who do you think built my coops/runs/bucket hangers/and held the chicks for their photo shoot this afternoon? He's totally a chicken whisperer, he named most of our chickens so far. We're referring to these as the teensy weensie chicks. Or haffies. Or cheep cheeps.

I have 26 itty bitty peep peeps. They are headed for freezer camp.

And I have my laying flock of 9 hens and 1 awesome rooster.

Just a question....how can you eat chickens? I mean YOUR chickens? I couldn't ever raise chicks to eat. I love my girls too much. My Black star likes jumping up and my lap and is really friendly. I can eat store bought chicken though.....only if it was raised organically.
